Freedom in the Valley is the monthly podcast produced by the Libertarian Party of Frederick County. LPFC members discuss a range of local issues and how to apply libertarian principles to make life better for everyone in our community.

The topic of the August episode will be Libertarianism: An Introduction.

LPFC officers will discuss what libertarianism means to us as well as the different schools of thought in libertarianism. Finally, we will break down how libertarian principles applied at the local and state level would improve the lives of all in our community.

Join Roanoke Valley Libertarians on the second Wednesday of each month for good food, drinks, and conversation.

The August meeting will feature an address by Jim Lark, advisor to The Liberty Coalition at the University of Virginia.  His address is titled “Looking Back, Looking Forward:  The Libertarian Movement on Campus.”

Dr. Lark is a professor in the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia.  He is the Region 5 representative on the Libertarian National Committee; he served as chairman of the Libertarian Party during the 2000-2002 term.  He serves as the Libertarian Party’s representative to the International Alliance of Libertarian Parties, and as secretary of Liberty International.  He is a member of the Board of Advisors to Students For Liberty.  He founded several libertarian student organizations while he was a Ph.D. student at the University of Virginia.

Jim Lark and Hallee Morgan of the Jefferson Area Libertarians will serve as guests on the “Schilling Show” on WINA radio (1070 AM and 98.9 FM) in Charlottesville.  One may listen to the program online by going to WINA.com from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on weekdays and clicking the “Listen Live” button.

Dr. Lark and Dr. Morgan are scheduled to appear during the first hour (12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.) of the program.  Listeners are welcome to call in to the program (977-1070) or send e-mails to RobS@wina.com to ask questions and offer comments.
